In 1994, House Dressing Inc. started as a new concept furniture business, truly a one-of-a-kind venture.
At that time, "Staging" was a word used only in show business circles. As one of the very first stagers in the country, I now realize this concept is still misunderstood in many instances. I was asked by the realtor who sold my own home how I had transitioned overnight from one home to the next and purchased all new furniture. (Of course, it only appeared that way.) The organized movement of furniture and the total make-over look came easily to me as I had raised five children and had been a custom seamstress for years. Organization and "dressing" all kinds of bodies were the same skills needed to visually re-create properties.
For the past 16 years, I have been instrumental in helping Realtors and home owners sell more than 1,100 properties - from full staging services, cosmetic rehabs, and consulting services for the real needs of preparing homes for sale. Now I feel it is time to move on the next phase of my business - creating more staging inventory for rental purposes. The experiences I have gained through "the psychology of staging" has been instrumental in the success of House Dressing and the need is greater than ever. The insight gained over the years is essential in knowing what is truly necessary to create "the right stage."
